General announcements and reminders: It is Provincial Achievement exam week in grade 6. In addition to studying hard, remember to get a good sleep each night, eat a good breakfast, and go in to each test with a positive attitude. Bring 2 or 3 sharpened pencils, a good eraser and a highlighter. All regular class materials should also be coming to school each day.
June 21 is Aboriginal Day. There are regular classes, but no exams scheduled for this day. We will have a presentation from an Aboriginal drumming and dancing group in the early afternoon.
Term III Auction will be June 26 or 27. Please send in any small items to contribute to this exciting reward activity.
Our May-June merit activity will be an outside fun day. We will also have a pizza lunch to celebrate our home reading success that day. It is also a celebration of being done the last of our grade 6 PATs, on the afternoon of Friday, June 23. All students who have earned the privilege will participate in the event. Some students may only participate in part of the afternoon if they don't have the full amount of reward points. All students will be allowed to participate in the pizza lunch. There is no cost for this activity.
There is no more library circulation for the year. All late/missing books need to be brought back or paid for as soon as possible.
Homework and scheduled tests and quizzes: Math: Practice PAT from Thursday due Monday, June 19 in block 1. Also see emails from Mrs. Bruinsma. The Math PAT is Tuesday, June 20. All exams are first thing in the morning.
Language Arts: L.A. PAT is Monday, June 19 in the morning.
Science: Short assessment on booklets 3 and 4 on Monday, June 19 in the afternoon. We will work on booklet #5 to finish the unit during this week, and do the quiz for it as an open book summative assignment (June 21 and 22). Review materials for the other science topics have been handed out in four "Science Challenge" booklets; as well, students have access to practice tests through Quest A+ and exambank.com. Don't forget to scroll down through the year's Google Classroom postings to review previous materials. Our Science PAT is the last one, on June 23.
French: Paragraph about your family, interests and hobbies was due, handed in electronically, on Friday, June 16.
Social Studies: This week we will go over Social Challenge #4, look at chapter 8 in the textbook briefly, and review for the PAT. Our Social exam is on Thursday, June 22.
Last week of classes: In addition to swimming at Servus Place on June 28, our Term III Auction, and any other elementary year-end activities, we will use our time for exploring topics of interest to students in science and social studies, and looking at an introduction to grade 7 core subjects and options. More specific details will be posted closer to that time.
