General announcements and reminders: Library this Wednesday morning, back to regular circulation. Please have your books at school and in class first thing Wednesday morning. Next week is the last week for home reading before the term II reading mark goes into PowerSchool. Please bring in any completed and signed reading sheets.
French Winter Carnival: This week, Thursday, March 23. Parents should have received the bright orange letter last week. Please bring in any volunteer forms as soon as possible. We could still use a few more people.
Musical Theater Troupe will NOT have a rehearsal this week. We will resume after spring break with regular rehearsals on Mondays at noon.
Choir and Musical Theater Competitive Troupe: Our Festival date for choir and competitive musical theater is Tuesday, April 11. Also, please be sure you have handed in your forms for Sturgeon Night of Music.
Next Girls' Circle meeting will be April 28, when we will have our grade 7 buddies join us to talk about junior high and give us advice about getting ready for that important transition.
Homework and scheduled tests and quizzes: Math: Assessment on Monday, March 20.
Language Arts: This week, we will be assembling the polished copy of our Iroquois Story and finishing our painted illustrations. We continue to read Eye of the Crow during DEAR. There will not be any new projects until we return after the break.
Social Studies: This week we will be launching our local/provincial/federal government section of the course with some transition from the Iroquois to present day and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Current events is done for term 2. We will resume current events assignments after spring break, on the SECOND Wednesday back. There will be some changes to the assignment format, so watch for announcements in your Social Google Classroom. The assignment handout and rubric will change to reflect the new format.
Science: We will get tests back this week and do some introduction to Sky Science, and then focus on that unit fully when we return from the break.
Health: We will continue work with positive self-talk, test preparation, mindful focus and a growth mindset. After the break we will work on Digital Citizenship.
French: We will finish planning and then participate in our 2017 Carnaval d'Hiver this Thursday. Letters went home March 3 for parent volunteers to sign up and help us run this year's event. Please encourage your parents to come and join us on your team for the afternoon if they are free.
